Working with the newsroom
A few quick answers to the questions reporters, parents, and administrators ask most often.
How fast do you respond to breaking tips?
Same-day during school hours for anything marked urgent. Overnight and weekend tips are triaged the next morning. For active incidents, call the main office line and ask to be transferred to the editor on duty.
Can I submit anonymously?
Yes. Skip the name field, use a personal email, and write "anonymous source" in the message. We never publish identifying details without consent, and we signpost anonymous sourcing in every story that uses it.
Do you accept photo and video?
Absolutely — original photos, screenshots, and vertical video all help. Attach in your reply email or DM. The photo desk credits the photographer unless you ask otherwise.
Can students pitch op-eds?
Yes, and we love them. Send 350–500 words to [email protected] with your name, grade, and a one-line bio. We publish two student voices per week in the Voices section.
How do corrections work?
Email [email protected] with the URL and the specific line. The on-duty editor verifies, updates the story, and appends a dated correction note at the top. We never quietly edit.
Are you part of the school administration?
No. Pompano Beach High is an independent student newsroom. We follow standard editorial ethics and are not prior-reviewed by school administration. Our advisor is listed on the masthead.
