SCHOLARSHIP
“Brick by Brick” Commemorative Brick
Scholarship Program
The PBHS PTSA has established the “Brick by Brick” Scholarship
fund to assist future graduates in pursuing their higher education. The
fund is supported by the sale of engraved bricks honoring individuals (students,
teachers, alumni), corporations, clubs and teams. These bricks are prominently
placed in the school Courtyard as a lasting legacy to the proud history
of
the Pompano Beach High School.
Graduation, Straight A’s, Most Improved Athlete, State Championships,
Superior Rating, All County Orchestra, First Team, Player of the Year, Art
Honors or the ‘Best Teacher I Ever Had”. These are all events
in your children’s lives that deserve commemoration.
Maybe it’s a series of bricks to commemorate the three
generations of your family to graduate from Pompano Beach High School!! It
has been done
more than once; Pompano is the second oldest high school in Broward County!
Our doors opened in 1928. We have a lot of alumni out there and now grandchildren
are attending PBHS! Here’s a chance to make a family memory!
And wouldn’t it be nice for our current generation
of students to learn that those that have gone before them have had some
spectacular achievements
of their own. There are Olympic medals, heroic war achievements and great
sports moments that deserve to be remembered in stone. These all deserve
incorporation into the “Brick by Brick” historical legacy. Help
the PTSA to mark these memorable moments in PBHS history.
Presented in the spring, the Brick Installation Ceremony
is held in the Courtyard and followed by a Reception in the Media Center.
If your Alumni group would like to arrange a special Installation event
including a luncheon and school tour please let us know and we would be happy
to arrange the details.
Please contact Suzanne Ruolo at 954-776-6476 for details and sales information.
Department Mini Grants for Teachers
Upon approval from the Department Head, teachers may submit a request for
grant money for projects that enhance classroom curriculum by bringing resources
to the school that would not be possible given existing budgets. Things like:
in-school performances, student workshops, field trips, speaker honoraria,
special programs, books or software are all viable requests. It is requested
that the PTSA Grant monies be considered after applications have been submitted
to other funding sources such as the Broward Education Foundation Adapters
program and others. Please consult with Dr Millello for these primary funding
sources.
- All equipment or hardware will remain property of PBHS.
- Tuition for faculty cannot be subsidized.
- Awards will be granted for up to $500.
For the school year 2011-2012 please submit your grant requests by the end
of this school year (May 1, 2011) for evaluation.
