MAGNET PROGRAMS

Pompano Beach High School’s Magnet Program is currently offering International Affairs with Information Technology. The following are the Magnet Program  Strands at Pompano Beach High School.

International Affairs
The International Affairs strand features unique courses designed for global studies and a variety of foreign languages. Students considering collegiate study in law, foreign services, business or international affairs should follow this strand.

International Business
The International Business strand develops the appreciation, knowledge, and skills necessary to work and live in a global marketplace. The program content includes the study of organizational structures, business management, entrepreneurship, human relations, cross-cultural communications, leadership, marketing, legal agreements, trade relations, banking and international finance.

Information Technology
The Information Technology strand provides the student with the knowledge, skills, and ability to enter the international field of global networking. Emphasis is placed on global computer programming and applications. This is an excellent field for students interested in the international language and application of computer technology.

Technology courses provide students with experiences in the application of technology, an appreciation of the impacts of technology on our society and the opportunities technology provides. The program develops technological skills and provides opportunities for career exploration within technological fields. Students participate in exciting hands-on activities while achieving these goals.

There are currently two tracks being offered in Information Technology courses: Web Design and Business Computer Programming. In order to have a magnet diploma for Information Technology, students must take two consecutive Web Design or Business Computer Programming courses. The following table shows the required courses for the Magnet Diploma.
