PBHS
Media Center loves to stay involved with students, teachers, and the
community. With the love of books, the media center enjoys an annual
celebration of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, which includes inviting our neighbors,
Amanda’s Place, where our students entertain the toddlers with an
introduction to Dr. Seuss’ books, face painting, computer games,
and arts and crafts.
A special program, which is very close to our hearts, is the ceremony
honoring our “Fallen Heroes” for Veteran’s Day. The entire school
and community is invited to participate in this ceremony. The media center
and the JROTC students place the flags with the fallen soldiers name ,
picture, rank, hometown, and date of death replicating Arlington National
Cemetery on the school’s campus.
Students get excited about reading when books can be brought to life.
The media Center has had a child soldier from Africa discuss his life,
a Buddhist
monk who worked with the Dali Lama, and several World War II veterans
as speakers. Using distance learning technology, the students were
able to
have a question and answer session with an author in California. Another
author students were also visit with Mitch Albom, the author of “Tuesday’s
With Morrie”.
